Kicking off Year 2

To celebrate a successful year of promoting food equity right here in the Triangle with over 2,000 healthy meals donated, cooked, and distributed we put together a video featuring partners that have so generously helped out throughout the year.

Kristin Bulpitt of Copeland Springs Farm and Kitchen has picked up the torch and is leading us into the second year of our Pay-It-Forward Program by taking her turn as the partner restaurant for the second time.

The May Pay-It-Forward campaign has officially started!. Now that we’re distributing meals to families through both Communities and Schools Chatham County and CORA Food Pantry, we’re hoping for a successful campaign that will allow us to fill the freezers at both of our distribution partners.

Two thousand meals is a lot of big bins full of bowls….33 of them actually….but we really get there 2 or 3 donated meals at a time. The Pay-It-Forward program has proven to be sustainable throughout the year due to so many people donating just a few meals. So if you’re considering donating, know that your donation of just a couple bowls will make not only this campaign a huge success but also help promote our future campaigns.

If you haven’t participated in our Pay-It-Forward program in the past here’s how it works. People donate meals to the campaign right here on the site. At the end of the round the Good Bowls and Pittsboro Eats volunteer crews head to the partner restaurant, Copeland Springs Farm and Kitchen this round. The restaurants cook and volunteers back and seal nutritious and delicious meals that are then donated to families-in-need in the community.

Even though we’re putting the pandemic behind us, inflation is now impacting so many families’ food budgets. During the last round, Kristin picked most of the food for her meals right from her Copeland Springs Farm. Now that it’s spring time, many of the crops are coming in and we’re anticipating a big harvest to help meet the needs of local families with fresh and healthy food.

Stay tuned to see what delicious creation Kristin cooks up this round!
