NC CEAL

For the past four years, the NC Community Engagement Alliance (NC CEAL) has worked to support communities in part by increasing access to healthy food. Equiti Foods is lucky to be able to support this mission with an exciting new partnership!

NC CEAL is partnering with The Caraway Foundation (TCF) in Anson County to distribute nutritious, freezer-friendly meals. Our founder, Dr. Alice Ammerman, a leading expert in nutrition and director of the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, will help assess how healthy meal deliveries and nutrition education improves diet and health for Anson County residents with chronic illnesses. By supporting local food production and training community leaders, NC CEAL aims to create sustainable solutions for food insecurity and chronic disease prevention across North Carolina.

Initially, Equiti Foods will supply Good Bowls to The Caraway Foundation for distribution to study participants. Equiti Foods will also help The Caraway Foundation develop their own frozen healthy meal program. The goals include making the meals in Anson County as well as a concerted effort to source ingredients from Anson County farmers to strengthen the local economy.
